Get involved: Grow Speke is reopening soon!
Published: 26 March 2021
We’re delighted to let you know that Grow Speke is reopening its gates to the community on Monday 29 March.
The community garden, located between Little Heath Road and Ganworth Road in Speke, has been closed during the latest lockdown to help prevent the spread of coronavirus but is set to reopen again with a series of Covid-secure procedures in place.
Prior to the garden reopening, Grow Speke and South Liverpool Homes staff were busy preparing the site for the new season, which included deep cleaning of the indoor areas, clearing the raised beds ready for replanting and generally giving the place a good spring clean!
Check out the video to see how we got on!
Top priority jobs next week will be preparing our raised beds for planting this year’s vegetable seeds and seedlings. There’ll be lots of digging, hoeing and weeding if you want to get your green fingers dirty! Or you can just have a leisurely mooch and take in the day in tranquility. We can’t wait to welcome our existing volunteers back and meet new ones.
In line with Government guidance, we will only be able to have a maximum of six people on site at a time. We are running taster sessions every day at 10am-12pm and 1pm - 3pm. Please note that we are closed on Good Friday but will be back after the Easter Bank Holiday.
How to book
Whether you want to get involved or just want an informal, guided tour of Grow Speke and a brew from our outdoor kitchen, please contact Justin Dalrymple, Community Project Officer on 07860 839 303 who will book a place for you. Please note that because of government restrictions and the rule of six we may have to offer you a different time.
We are constantly reviewing our procedures and hope to be able to let larger groups visit the site when government guidance permits.
We hope to see you soon!
